Makeup Design

MODULE  6

Preparation for Makeup Design

Research, Image Collections, Sketches, Drawings, and Creating an Inspiration Book (Online)

To be done by the student.

To create a makeup design, start by researching the historical period, style, and theme you want to explore. This can be done through online image searches. Bing is often used for image research, while Pinterest is widely recognized for its diverse global image collections. Pinterest also allows you to create different boards and share them with collaborators during group projects.

Research can also be conducted using books, magazines, and organizing findings by themes or years, depending on your creative goals.

Having a sketchbook is recommended, although plain white (preferably recycled) paper works well.

Personally, I like to print a face or body outline on my blank paper to visualize better. I’ve attached a demo you can use until you make your own according to your preferences. Also included is an example of a mood board typically used for film projects or creative work.

In this module, you are encouraged to start your research, create your mood board, and complete your first research assignment for the makeup design you will be asked to create in Module 7.
