Prosthetic Application Training

MODULE  7

Applying a Prosthetic for a Character

Techniques / Practice / Evaluation

Required Materials:

• Pros-Aide adhesive (a professional-grade glue, available in white or clear, removable with warm water)

• A prosthetic (silicone, foam, etc.)

• Latex

• Translucent powder

To apply a prosthetic, first clean the skin with an astringent to remove oil and ensure proper adhesion.

Using a cotton swab, apply tiny drops of Pros-Aide glue around the inside edge of the prosthetic.

Only a few small dots are needed, spaced apart to avoid excess glue. Refer to the attached photo for guidance.

Allow the glue on the prosthetic to dry, then apply the same glue dots to the area of skin where the prosthetic will be placed.

Wait a few minutes.

If touching the glue with your fingertip creates filaments, it means the prosthetic is ready to be applied.

Press the prosthetic firmly onto the desired area of the face, holding it in place for a few seconds. Remove any excess glue with a cotton swab if necessary.

Finish by applying a thin layer of latex over the edges to blend the prosthetic with the skin and prevent gaps. The better the edge is blended, the less visible the prosthetic will be.

Once everything is dry, you can begin coloring the prosthetic to match the makeup design.
