Every summer, Montreal's sky lights up to the rhythm of the Loto-Québec International Fireworks Competition, one of the most prestigious pyrotechnic competitions in the world. Presented at La Ronde since 1985, this pyromusical competition brings together the world's best fireworks companies each season, competing for the coveted Gold, Silver, and Bronze Jupiter awards. This year marks a special milestone: the event's 40th edition, presented from July 2 to August 6, 2026, featuring 30 minute pyromusical shows that draw close to three million spectators each season.

And this summer, Agence Thaly is part of the celebration.

A meaningful presence

La Ronde is no new ground for us: this is the 3rd consecutive year Agence Thaly has operated an airbrush kiosk on-site, from June 12 to October 31, 2026, present according to the park's operating calendar, weekends, peak season, and special events. In other words, fireworks nights are naturally part of that schedule. It's only natural, then, that our artists are there to add an extra touch of magic to the experience of families who come to watch the sky light up.

An immersive experience, right in the heart of the park

The most intense experience is lived directly from La Ronde's stands, set along the shore of Lac des Dauphins. That's where spectators enjoy the fullest view of the show, with the music perfectly synchronized to the pyrotechnic launches creating total immersion, all within the festive atmosphere unique to the amusement park. It's also, quite naturally, where our artists set up: between rides, families have time to stop by our kiosk before the sky takes over.

Why face painting and fireworks go so well together

There's something fireworks and fantasy face painting have in common: both turn a moment into a memory. The colors exploding in the sky find a perfect echo on the faces of children (and grown-up children too) who leave with a sparkling star on their cheek or a temporary tattoo inspired by pyrotechnic patterns, sparks, miniature fireworks, golden bursts.

It's also a chance to make the evening's magic last: the souvenir photo becomes even more memorable with face painting that tells its own story of light.

Our artists adapt to every request: little ones leave with a sweet design (butterfly, star, rainbow), teens often prefer a more graphic tattoo, and even parents sometimes give in to a little sparkle before heading to the stands. It's this flexibility, combined with the speed of airbrush application, that lets as many families as possible leave with their souvenir before the show begins.

A competition already well underway

Since July 2, Montreal's sky has already vibrated to the rhythm of six memorable evenings. The season opened with a special show marking the event's 40th anniversary, followed by the world's top fireworks companies taking turns: Hungary (July 9), Italy (July 12), China (July 16), Canada (July 23), and, most recently, the United States (July 26).

Two dates remain to close out this anniversary edition:

Thursday, July 30: Australia takes the stage, ready to light up the sky with its own pyrotechnic signature.
Thursday, August 6: the closing night, a Tribute to Legends, will crown this 40th edition in style.

Each evening begins at 10:00 PM, with musical programming on the Loto-Québec stage starting at 8:00 PM.

For a stress-free evening, a few simple habits help: arrive early to enjoy the rides and avoid the crowd rush in the stands just before 10 PM, allow a little extra time for a stop at our kiosk (lines can get longer as showtime approaches), and bring a light layer for cooler evenings by the river. Airbrush tattoos hold up well in the heat and through an active evening, making them a perfect choice for this kind of event.
